Gravestone MythFascinatingI’m always fascinated by the guests. I see elements of my life story interwoven in nearly every episode. Ham radio is not an addiction. It’s the only rational course of action for those of a certain “bent”. Eric does a great job reliving all of our childhoods when he digs into the guests’ beginnings. Like Branches in a tree, the stories diverge immensely, but the foundational elements are all virtually alike. While the ham radio podcast selections are rich, no other podcast captures the hobby in quite the same way.

Kc2bkmGreat show with a great goal.Sadly a lot of our Hams are getting older and when they are gone the knowledge, and interesting lives lived around this hobby are gone with them. Eric is preserving and letting us into the lives of some very smart and interesting people we otherwise may never have gotten to know or share in their passion. Thanks Eric for a fun and interesting show that will hopefully preserve some of that knowledge and fuel the passion of a future generation of hams.

DaveLKNI Wish I Could Do What Eric Does....This guy...wow....Eric has taken the time and put in so much effort to reach out to interesting amateur radio operators, many of whom have made noteworthy contributions to this hobby/public service/passion/affliction. It comes off so well. I find myself looking forward to the answers to the questions I know he asks (I like the somewhat structured format), to see what his guest has to say and how that compares to the views and opinions I’ve heard previously. The show notes and research are unlike most podcasts- very substantive. So I’ve listened to them all- and I’m glad they’re all still available. Keep this up as long as you can, 4Z1UG- fine business...

N2GJReally enjoy Eric’s podcastI’m thrilled to be one of Eric’s interview subjects (Episode 117). I enjoyed his style and his genuine curiosity about my life in ham radio! Some of my many friends in the hobby have been interviewed by Eric and those “QSOs” have brought me a lot of listening joy. This hobby has tremendous diversity and this really shines through in the podcast. Guests from all around the world have told their stories in the more than 200 episodes. BTW, his show notes feature is really a lot of fun to view. Keep up the great work, Eric! 73 DE N2GJ

K2TFExcellent PodcastI stumbled upon QSO today a couple of months ago. Eric is very skilled at directing the interview but still allowing his guest to speak. He interjects questions at just the right time without dominating the interview. I really have enjoyed the cross section of guests that have been on QSO Today, all which have brought their talents to the hobby. I especially enjoy hearing each persons story as to their start into their hobby and how it may have played, added or affected their professional and /or personal lives. Some of their stories remind me of my start into the hobby. QSO today allows the listener to hear different perspective as well as different aspects of the hobby that we may not have been familiar with. Keep up the good work, Eric! K2TF

Horace the BardInteresting in depth look at the hobbyI think Eric does a really good job finding people who have lots of knowledge and interest in the hobby. I have learned many things about radio and also received some in depth knowledge about many of the more involved aspects of the hobby.

JohnnyJ614High signal to noise ratio. Must listen! This series of interviews with notable people in the world of amateur radio is perhaps the best podcast about ham radio of all time. Eric Guth, 4z1ug is a perceptive, empathetic, intelligent and ernest interviewer, and his guests are all highly accomplished ham radio operators who are worthy of his superior interviewing talents. Maybe Eric's real talent is that he makes his interviews all about the guest first, doesn't let his ego interfere, but after you've listened for a while, you realize that Eric is a really cool guy, too! Eric is able to bring out the essence of each person's story in a way that is highly technical (after all this is a technical hobby), but never pedantic. He will ask for ELI5 explanations if things get too deep. He starts with the same formula with each guest, but does so much research, and listens so carefully to the answers that he is then able to follow up and branch out from there, and you really get the feeling that you are meeting this amazing person through Eric. Thank you, Eric!

ScottWrightMDFabulous Podcast seriesEric Guth is a fabulous interviewer. He asks great questions yet he has a knack about how he does it such that it allows his guests to talk. The focus is on them not him. It is not uncommon to forget that Eric is interviewing because he has a special ability to focus on his guests. The programs are fascinating and full of great stories and information. He interviews a diverse audience of ham radio operators with very interesting life stories. I especially enjoy listening to his podcasts when I exercise or travel. I always download several episodes to enjoy. He is also very open to feedback from his listeners for potential guests. Eric is a professional host despite this being his hobby and not the day job.

bandopeningOne of the best ham podcasts.Unfortunately, most ham radio podcasts are pretty awful, but there are a couple of shining stars (like Solder Smoke), and QSO today. This is the one ham radio podcast that you don't have to feel embarassed to listen to. It is done very well and leaves you inspired about the hobby. The people that are interviewed are hams who have made some contribution to make the hobby even better and each interview really leaves you fired up. I look forward to each new one. Give a few of these a listen, you will be hooked! 73 DE K7RJ

WitzendInteresting, informative, and high production value.Unlike some podcasts that I've tried and then abandoned, Eric's strong interviewing skills and his excellent post production editing combine to deliver a top-notch product that I look forward to each week. Our hobby of amateur radio covers a wide variety of subject matter, and every week I'm pleased to hear a guest with a different perspective and background than the one before. Each week, I look forward to hearing from someone new. Keep up the great work, Eric. 73!
