Great Podcast for the critical thinker
Fantastic podcast driven by dedicated critically minded hosts. It’s been one of my favorite podcasts for years.

    Very fun and educational
The podcast has gotten so much better over the years. Not that it was ever bad, it's just more refined now. It's one of only three podcasts that I absolutely must listen to every week without fail. It has become more mature and thoughtful lately, but it still keeps its original charm and irreverent sense of humor. I adore both sides. I love the outtakes and I'm sad when there aren't any. Keep up the awesome work everyone (Darren, Adam, Pat, Cristina, and guests)! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Scott Adams is not a Straw man!
Your Analysis of Scott Adams and Sam Harris was snarky and shallow. You exemplified everything Scott spoke of from cognitive dissonance to conformation bias. Let me guess... not a Trump fan? (I’m psychic) Scott stayed reasonable and responsive to all Sams arguments. Sam truly tried to be reasonable and logical which is what I love about him. ( I just think his bias took him out on this one). I’ve not listened to any of your other podcast so I’m just going to assume your TDS skewed this one.

    Earnest, Lighthearted, and Useful
I found TRC by following their friend Stuart Robbins, my favorite pseudoscience-debunking astronomer. Debunking, myth-busting and truth seeking is the name of the game here, and the TRC crew plays it like a game. The scope of their subject matter is just about unlimited, although thankfully they don't care about celebrity gossip unless it's attached to some current, larger issue (ike their recent finger-wagging at Neil deGrasse Tyson). Because of their good humor, absence of malice, lack of partisanship and no ad hominem attacks ever, TRC is fun and lighthearted and I always learn stuff I didn't know I needed to know -- such as the fact that hippopotamuses can swim.

    Feel like friends
Lots of podcasts cover skepticism, but these canadiens put a different flavor. They have some fun games and different guests plus they remind me of how my friends would talk about those issues. I really like the format and have been enjoying this podcast for a couple years now.

    It’s ok to be skeptical.
Variety of topics, in-depth analysis, and witty humor. A great thank you to the hosts for helping us to embrace our inner skepticism! My favorite podcast by far.

Decent show with a big but
Darren McKee-slow the f down!!! Stop drinking so much caffeine, stay away from the energy drinks, whatever helps you stop talking so frickin fast. You are intelligible but sound almost like a cartoon and I can never really appreciate what you’re talking about, only marvel how fast you talk. I fast forward hour segments. Again I can understand you, it isn’t garbled, but I don’t enjoy it and it stresses me out

    Binge listening
This Show has drastically altered my world view. I’m still undecided if it’s for the better or not. Once the myth has been busted there’s no going back. I can’t remember when I first heard of the TRC podcast but it was in the last 6 months. I’ve easliy listened to more than a 100 shows at this point. I first heard of TRC from the interview with Professor Buzzkill which was aired on his Podcast. I started downloading episodes of TRC 20 at a time and listening to them. Back to back. The more recent years with Christina are definitely better than the early years. I can’t wait for Gwentyth Paltrow to promote more ridiculous stuff just because it’s so much fun listening to Christina rip it apart.

    Left bias
Mostly interesting show. Definately left bias. That makes it hard to listen to at diferent times. We all lean one way or the other but it's distressing when it jumps out. Here it does often. When it does they just laugh and say "sure we do"... I've listened for a while and now I remember why I stopped the last time....

    Fun, fast, and informative
They don’t belabor any one point to long. They do the homework for you, teach you something interesting, and move on to the next subject. I really enjoy the variety and I appreciate their skepticism of bad science and/or incomplete studies.

Critical Thinking Better than Snopes! - Professor Buzzkill
It's about time that someone gave us a podcast that analyzes all these stories and urban legends that seem to plague modern times! The Reality Check is the best way to learn the truth and be the smartest person at your office. - Professor Buzzkill

    Fails on most levels
Opinions are presented as facts, emotions are presented as reason. Knowing the right words doesn't mean you have a grasp of the meaning, nor the ability to think like a philosopher. The hosts should rethink their profession.

    Science and Critical Thinking Excellence
The Reality Check is one of my favorite podcasts. The format is a weekly half-hour show focusing on Science, Scientific Skepticism and Critical thinking. Each show broken into (generally) 3 different segments. Each segment is a stand-alone treatment of a single topic. The 4 regular hosts: Darren, Adam, Christina, and Pat have a great rapport with each other and while any single segment is researched/presented by a single host, the others will actively participate/interact and question each other. Pat and Christina Roach are a husband and wife team who also write/perform show opening/closing music and also sometimes will create humorous parodies combining a popular song melody with a science/skepticism lyric. The podcast is based on Canada, and they do cover many Canada-related topics, but the issues they bring up always have a larger scope/appeal, and as an American listener, find the topics entirely relatable.

One of the best and most educational podcasts
I have been a TRC subscriber for many years. It's a very entertaining, well-researched, and incredibly educational--at times, eye-opening--podcast that focuses on scientific thinking. A definitely must listen.

    Much improved
The show has made impressive improvements since I started listening several years ago. Gone are the giggle-fests. Although there's still a bit of overlap as panel members talk over each other's punchlines, for the most part the team keeps it lively, fun and focused. Pat and Christina (sp?) have added tremendous balance to the discussions. Pat's deadpan sign-ons and sign-offs are a delightfully droll counterweight to the silliness, making it bearable and even enjoyable. We could do with less mythical superhero reality checking but there's even a place for that sort of thing from time to time. Keep up the good work Checkers.

    Wonderfully smart and entertaining
A wonderful podcast that checks if a claim is true, accurate, and always well researched!
  • Albert Michelson
One of the only non dumbed down podcasts
True cynics and witty, it is just what I was looking for.

    Very disappointed
I have only listened to one episode and was shocked at how one sided and how little research was done on topic before opinions were given. Quoting one source does not make one an expert. I never bother to give reviews but felt strongly compelled to comment. Big thumbs down!

    This one's for Elan
TRC is a great podcast. Pat and Christina's parodies are funny and inspired. Adam brings the crude humor that the 13-year old in me enjoys. Darren is there. (Just kidding, I've learned a lot from him.) I would give a sixth star if Elan was still on the show.
  • jjiceman92
    So great!
The accusations of being somewhat juvenile is accurate, that said, it is what makes this special. These are normal guys, they are funny, entertaining and smart. Maybe this is just my opinion as a fellow geek, but I really love it.

    Non-critical Interview
Agreeing with a guest that everyone knows that there is no ethical distinction between the treatment of human and non-human animals breezed past the proposed question of why people should care about animal suffering. Some people really do think humans ought to be accorded special consideration even if they won't recover and nobody loves and values them. Grossed out by this interview tunnel vision.

    Skeptics dig into Issues
A group of Canadian skeptics do a review of generally scientific topics from the news and their daily lives with 15 minute deep dives into the how and why of what is going on. Nerdy song covers start things off then the conversation kicks off with the stories. The science and logic are very approachable and they set the context if they are going to get technical.

    Skeptic's Guide Lite
I love this podcast so much. I try to get all of my friends to listen to it. It is a lighter version of the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe.

    Listen to this Podcast
This cast has quickly become my favorite. Logic, reason, and facts with well cited sources. It's refreshing compared to the stupidity of other casts and general Facebook feeds. All while keeping light-hearted humor sprinkled throughout. Keep it up! I'll keep listening.

    Humorous skeptic podcast
different from SGttU - lighter and easy to listen to, interesting mix of topics.
  • StinkyDogF
    Favorite skeptic/science podcast
They pick about 3 topics per show. Each host reads his own report, and there is often a lot of laughter as he does. I normally don't like the parodies, but last week they did "fairytale of New York" by the Pogues and it was great! Also, Elan is no longer a regular and I was worried the podcast wouldn't feel right without him, but the show is still great! Christina roach has been on the show lately and it's been great.

    Great introduction to skepticism
Great introduction to skepticism. Easy to follow, a light tone, and the musical parodies just make my day every time the show opens with one. Sure, they enjoy going of on a tangent, and they cover some silly topics at times, but that just makes me connect with the hosts like real people all the more. Like most human beings, they sometimes make mistakes, but they are generally good at issuing corrections.

    The Avis of Skeptical Podcasts
This is a must listen for me every week, along with the Skeptics Guide to the Universe. I enjoy the format, and I picture the guys sitting aroud a table in a pub, discussing the news of the week. Really, one of the best podcasts out here.

    :(
The final episode of Lost, the final episode of House and completing the entire back catolog of The Reality Check = events which left a deep hole in my soul. Great podcast!

    Ok
They don't take themselves to serious. Learned some stuff, had some laughs. These Canadians are okay
  • Catcher50
    Mostly worth it
I tend to listen to a number of podcasts espousing a rational point of view. This is one, but it is spoiled. Unfortunately, this crew does not do adequate research. Their general outlook is sensible, but they get so many pieces of data wrong that it puts a cloud over the podcast and, to some extent the rationalist viewpoint. I'll keep listening, in hopes that they will grow up and understand the concept of research and checking sources.

    Best podcast or greatest podcast?
I've been a listener for about 6 months or so. I was looking for something like SGU but shorter and more fun to listen to because I'm not a scientist. The hosts on this show have a great chemistry and really present the topics and information in an approachable view that's easy to understand, which makes it easy for me to pass on to friends who might not be so skeptical. tl;dr this is the best podcast ever. -Derek

    I like it.
I'm always interested in learning more about random topics. This show delivers. I like the hosts interactions with each other. It's pretty funny.
  • Sgt Sharki
Nice skepticism from the America Jr.
This is one of a couple of science and skepticism podcasts I listen to. The hosts have good rapport and there is a lot of really good science content. I like the variety of topics the cover and that they sometimes get a little weird. It's true that the production values aren't great and they can be a little snarky but the podcast is fun and informative.
  • Ashesofwhatremains
    Great show!
I've gone back to listen to every episode. I love this show! It's smart and funny with a great range of subjects. I especially appreciate the show due to the fact that I live in America, where people believe any pile of BS without evidence just because a book says so. The honesty of the logic, reason, and critical thinking in this show is a breath of fresh air! KEEP IT UP!!!!!!! I only wish your show was longer.
  • feeniepop
    One of my favorites
Fun and entertaining. I have listened to the entire catalog and by now the hosts seem like old friends. I enjoy the banter and tangents...keep up the good work!
  • rare_reviewer
    Absolutely Brilliant
Discovered this by accident (through work!) and ended up listening to over 30 back-episodes in the first week. Fun, informative, friendly, and just right at 1.5x speed :) I can tell I'll be a fan for many years to come... Thanks RC crew!
  • Enginerd81
It can be a bit immature but that's what makes it fun. Great podcast!
This is by far my favorite podcast-I've lost a lot of listening time due to a job change and this is the one I regularly take time to listen to each week. It is light hearted enough to be fun and get a laugh out but pointed enough to teach you something. If you are looking for a science lecture that tries to turn over every stone on a topic this may not be for you. If you can take some toilet humor and My Little Pony jokes with your weekly dose of science then download this now!
  • whatatomato
    I really love these guys.
I also listen to SGU, but I get far more excited when I see that there's a new episode of TRC. I love the wide variety of topics covered on this podcast, I love the rapport the hosts have with each other, and I love their little awkward segues. Listening to this, you get the feeling that you're there with them (even though they're not in one room together), eating pizza, having beers, and talking about skepticism. One criticism, though- although I love Pat and Christina as hosts, the song parodies are kind of irritating. I realize I'm in the minority there, though. Also- Christina should be on the show more often! She's great.
  • mrmullen
I'll give you a review, but not a voicemail
Great show, I FF through the parady song they have at the start of some episodes, but the show afterwords is usually great. I listen every week
  • Alaine1013
    AMAZING!!!!
I love this podcast. It is entertaining, eductional, and insightful. I have no idea why more people have not commented.
  • Mersaultmersaultpat
    Wonderful
I appreciate this 'cast far more than most of the more polished and popular skeptic podcasts out there. A few negative iTunes reviews lambasted these guys for their colloquial and informal dialogue, but I really value that nonchalance for one big reason: skepticism in its most effective form is not confined to the experts. It is a set of tools for critical thinking, a constant evaluation of our understanding of the world. It works best when applied by the public. When I listen to this podcast, I hear a group of normal dudes hanging out, kidding around, and that is exactly what effective skepticism is all about: normal people thinking critically in their daily lives. Keep it up (but cut out the dirty jokes).
