    Redundant
This show was informative, yet biased (as the telling of most podcasts are). It appeared it could have been edited to 6-8 episodes with by eliminating the repeated quotes from the same persons over multiple episodes.

    Finally!
I am so thrilled to finally have a podcast I can listen to that isn’t two white cis women telling true crime stories. And this focuses on not just a broken, but shattered system. This is essential listening and has inspired me to get more involved in my community.

    Disappointing
Such a fascinating story, but the producer/narrator gives too much unnecessary commentary and makes it too much about himself. The actual story doesn’t even start until midway through the first episode. Writing is full of cliches about the dark underbelly of glamorous Hollywood. Just tell me a good story.

Episode 2 is heartbreaking and brutal and amazingly reported
The story is unfolding in this episode. The struggles of the victim’s community is heartbreaking. Look in the mirror West Hollywood elites. What do you see?

More of this, for every subject, please
This is the story about the downfall and death of Gemmel Moore, told with urgency by journalist Sonari Glinton and though Moore’s own words, thanks to his diaries. Glinton says that this story needs more than a polite public radio retelling. So he gives it that. It’s not an easy listen, but it’ll stop you in your tracks. It’ll pick up up and sit you down. It’ll say “listen.” I hope that future seasons give different stories, and even different subjects, this same unflinching treatment. Shatter every system. Create cultures and societies that work for everyone, not just a privileged few.

    Five stars
Really great, well rounded journalism about a subject that rarely gets the deep understanding that it deserves. Can’t wait for the rest of the series. I’ve been fascinated with this case as it was happening.

Perfecting a popular form while subverting it in service of a great cause
That great cause: holding power to account. I would argue that it’s the greatest cause of our time. All the possible calamities the human race is facing can only be avoided by holding power to account. Climate, political corruption, systemic racism—none of it changes if we continue to let the rich and powerful plunder and kill without repercussion. Sonari and crew deserve to shoot to the top of the podcast leaderboard on quality and entertainment value alone. Beyond that, I think this is exactly the sort of art the world needs more of right now. And look, I like potato chip entertainment too, but the glut of true crime stuff is basically murder porn at this point. Worse, a lot of it’s straight-up copaganda. But don’t get me wrong, Shattering the System goes down easy—it just happens to be good for you too. It’s kinda like Reveal meets Serial. I’m totally hooked. I could listen to Sonari all day. The production is AAA and the theme music slaps. Tell your friends about this one before they tell you first.

    Can’t wait
This is a very important story about my city, Los Angeles, told by someone who’s uniquely positioned to help us understand all the nuances of this case—and why it matters for ALL OF US. Can’t wait to listen
