This podcast makes me feel smarter! 😂
As someone who went through public school and graduated feeling like I didn’t know many practical and applicable things for life ahead. Listening to this podcast (as a wife and mother of two littles) is the perfect way to teach myself some of the things I feel should have been taught long ago. Thank you and keep up the good work, sister in Christ! ❤️

Thank you Kathy Gibbens!! I love this Podcast!
Hi! 👋 I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your podcast!!! I love to be able to spot fallacies in conversations/articles/memes/etc. this podcast has definitely helped me to think more for myself instead of asking my mom to tell me what’s wrong/right. Another thing, I love how you bring God into the things that he needs to be brought into! I’m a Christian, I do Classical Conversations as well, and I’m thirteen and in Challenge A, so listening to this as well as the Fallacy Detective has really helped my thinking skills!!! Oh, and I love your voice!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(these are how many stars I’m fining your podcast)😊 From, Emoji master P.S. it would really make my Day if your read my review on your podcast. If you do, please use emoji master instead of I love max good name. (It’s a long story😊) Thank you

Great way to get your brain in shape
This podcast is a thorough presentation of how to think and how to recognize bad thinking. I see bad thinking so much more at work than I used to see. I encourage everyone to listen because there is something in each of these podcasts for everyone to learn something new. And listen with your kids or grand kids. The next generation will benefit from this skill as well.

    Really great!
Love the premise, the way it’s presented and that it teaches a rather than tells us what to think. We’ll done and thank you Kathy!!!

    I love this podcast!!!!
This year I started Logic at my school. My sister was able to study logical fallacies last year and I was ready to begin to study them too. I was so excited! But then my school changed the Logic program. I wasn’t happy, at all.( I now know that what we are studying is EXTREMELY important but I didn’t get that at the time!). I love this podcast because it glorifies God while giving us very useful skills for life! Thank you so much Mrs Gibbens!!!!!

    Simply Amazing!
I absolutely love this Podcast! We listen to this podcast regularly, even with our grandkids (8, 6, and almost 3) and we all love it. Their parents listen to it also. love it. It gets the two oldest to really think and then their questions begin. It makes us think and teaches us how we should be thinking for ourselves, how to decipher the onslaught of info coming from the gazillions of media platforms and content out in the cyber world. I wish we had Kathy’s mindset, growing up! We always ask people if the listen to podcast and “Filter it Through a Brain Cell by Kathy Gibbens” is #1.

    Concise, quality content
I’m about 20 episodes in and loving this podcast! I am only giving 4 stars because the format is not conducive to “bingeing”. I wish each episode were 20 or 30 min instead & covered more ground. Superb content though, and well presented!

    Love this!
I am a CC student and this has been great for reviewing my fallacies. I listen to one or more about every day. Keep it up!

    Much needed podcast!!
More than ever, in my lifetime, it is so important to really understand truth. As Beth Moore said, “there is too much pontificating and not enough pondering”. This podcast will help you examine the statements that come your way, whether through conversations, social media, news outlets, books or any other source, and decide if it is true or not true. It will help you identify why it is false and perhaps give you confidence to speak up when faced with fallacies. Nicely done in short bits. Easy to listen to.

Energetic, Engaging and Just What We Need
Love how short, sweet and engaging this is! Kathy is energetic, informed and love that she’s taking the time to provide such a wonderful framework for improving our critical thinking skills. My teen is hooked now too!

Everyone should have some basic critical thinking skills
This is a very energetic podcast. As a former teacher, I am very excited that somebody is out there, encouraging people to think critically. I think our whole society could use a class in critical thinking. In honor of thinking critically, I would like to bring forth some information that was not brought up in the episode regarding why critical thinking, is not taught in schools. I taught in a high school for nearly 20 years. For many years critical thinking, was part of our curriculum. It was part of our assessments, and it was a very important goal for us to help students think critically. However, after no child left behind, came in and the flooding of testing and outside curriculums geared towards that testing, many things changed in schools. That is when I began to see a lack of critical thinking being valued. Well, I always kept it as part of my classroom for new teachers. It was not going to be as much of a focus.

    You’re filling a void I didn’t know I had!
Hi Kathy! I feel like I know you after binge-listening to the first 56 podcasts so far! A friend shared your podcast on Facebook and it has been something I didn’t know I needed! My plan is to go through them all again with my 12 & 9 year olds next. I bought The Fallacy Detective and The Thinking Toolbox and I’m exploring using those in combination with your podcasts to teach a logic class in our co-op next year! My common sense hackles have been going up for years but your concise podcasts have helped me greatly in putting into words what my mind has been alerting me to so I can better communicate it to others, especially my kids…thank you so much!! PS- I’m sharing it with all my homeschooling friends and anyone else who will listen!!

This is what society needs to hear
When I first listened to this podcast, I immediately loved it. Kathy is so friendly and very sensitive while addressing a sensitive topic. I have been chagrined on multiple occasions when she calls out fallacies I commit every day without realizing it. Although it seems like she’s mostly talking to adults, I think this podcast is great for everyone - kids, teens, adults - you name it! I recently listened to the “5 tips for a good conversation” episode, and it hit home. I remembered some heated conversations where all we were accomplishing was making each other angry. If everyone could listen to this podcast, then we might have a nicer world to live in. I 100% recommend this podcast.
  • Listening Critically
    I really love your podcast!
Thank you so so so so much for doing this podcast! I wish you could do a podcast every day, because now I am caught up and have to wait for a new one to come! However, I completely understand not being able to do that. Thank you so much Kathy!

    Great podcast for all ages
This is a wonderful educational podcast. She takes the fancy named fallacies and makes them relatable and bite-sized with real life examples and ways to respond to bad reasoning. Listen with your kids!

Short, sweet, and SO SO important! I’m going to listen with my kids. I’m only on the 4th episode but plan to listen again with my middle schoolers!
  • bluesinsea
Good overview BUT, used fallacious in her own comment.
I was going to recommend this podcast to my students for refreshers on the critical thinking lessons I teach. However, season 1 episode 4 she stated “God gives us our emotions”. Really? The reasoning behind that statementI is loaded with fallacious arguments.Ironic that the statement was used in the episode about issues that hinder critical thinking.People are convinced of their beliefs. Being convinced of a belief does not mean that the belief is true. Religious dogma, in many instances, have fostered cognitive dissidence and confirmation bias and has hindered critical thinking in which has resulted in bad and sometimes dangerous ideas.

    Hands-On Logic Bootcamp
Kathy, here’s a review from another family member who knows that this topic and format totally is YOU! Thank you for the way you present excellent info that makes a true difference, you make it look easy but I know you work really hard in the process. The manipulation series was such a bonus, so relevant for real life. And way to go on your first interview! A mix of those in your content will be just the right balance and I look forward to many more! Well done, keep on keeping on!
  • Audry Cece
So educational and helpful in small bite-sized pieces. Thank you!!
Thank you for creating this podcast. It’s light and uplifting, yet so so helpful in understanding how to think critically, and why no one seems to be anymore. I’m highly enjoying this!!

why don’t more people think like this?? it’s pretty sad how advertisements and governments etc. today think about things. but listening to this makes it more into a comedy so to speak because you can point out the mistakes they make 😆

Quick lessons that I find myself using same day!
Love the quick lessons and examples that I can immediately start thinking about. I often catch myself identifying those fallacies throughout my day.

    Family Friendly!!
I love this podcast for our family! Every episode was enough information to start a conversation and challenge our way of thinking with my children. If your a Mama or a Papa, you are not exempt to keep developing your critical thinking, like my children, they made sure of that, lol! It’s fun and encouraging to watch how everybody chimes in with their own understanding and at the same time to start challenging our brains on how to truly think. I also love the reviews for reinforcements and check on how much we retained. This podcast is a must and totally family friendly!

Critical Thinking is THE most valuable skill today!
💯I was so excited to find this podcast because its a concise resource of things I’ve learned about thinking over an intense 10 year period of study and personal growth. The short podcasts are so fun to listen to and the practical examples are excellent!! It’s so perfect for my teenage son and I love that I have this resource to help other people learn HOW to think!
  • Jenniferpriceless
    So necessary for today’s world!
Thank you for teaching a skill that is in critical low supply in the culture today. My 12 year old even enjoyed listening with me. You discuss reasoning skills in such a fun and interesting way, making them relevant to the things we see in the news or on social media. Bravo!
