JustAnother_SarahBetter than the actual show (season 2)I loved listening to James & Marco's breakdowns of the season 1 episodes and was desperately hoping for a season 2 podcast. So glad they returned because their commentary does not disappoint! This podcast makes the god-awful second season almost worth watching. BTW, "That's what she said" started being popular with Wayne's World, so it would have been said in the 90s. I know you've done PLL but would be very interested to hear your take on more shows -- have you thought about reviewing Severance? I would love to get your insights on that show! I appreciate the level of detail you bring to each episode as well as your knowledge of TV and mysteries. Thank you for making season 2 of the show bearable!

A. Margaritaall caught upI loved listening to this show after catching up on Bros Watch PLL Too. I loved season 1 of Cruel Summer but I haven’t heard good things about season 2, so I’ve been following the season 2 story through this podcast. I might just binge the show after the Bros finish it but I haven’t made my mind up yet….. also Marco Sparks’ Debbie digs crack me up

iMeldaYETNo one said “endgame” in the 90’sI bonded with these guys with the downfall of the Original Sin series. Now I am bonding with them through a disappointing season of Cruel Summer. I tend to agree with Benjamin Light on everything except his views on punctuation. Season 2 is historically inaccurate and boring. It’s nice to hear someone else talk about it.

Offtotheraces245Had frustrations with season 1; love season 2Unfortunately for the bros, my favorite episodes are when they’re critiquing a show for sloppy storytelling and bad writing. I had frustrations over all the hate directed towards Mallory in the first season because I felt that it went past a line and criticized the actor who plays her for her looks, voice, and facial expressions. Because of that, I really appreciated having a guest with a different opinion on the 10th episode, in contrast to a lot of other reviewers who were on the really hating Mallory train!! The Season 2 episodes so far have been full of really good critiques, particularly calling out the weird way this show ignores race, and the banana-pants leaps of logic required for the plot they’ve set up in episode 2. It brings me a lot of joy also to hear all the late 90s fact-checks and have them mention the anachronisms. The bros don’t always get it perfect on the first try but it’s clear that they value expanding their perspectives and have learned and grown a lot over the years, which is something that’s very important to me.

JoshAtTheBeach77Amazing!I know I’m a little late to the party, but just watched Cruel Summer, and the show and this podcast are amazing! I’m wondering, where is our interim episode before season 2? I want both of your thoughts on starting a new season with brand new characters and a new plot!
-
kburkhoYay!I’m almost done listening to bros watch PLL too. Excited to listen!
-
superslawYou 2 Never Disappoint!Love you have you back in my earbuds. My fav line so far: “Mallory talks with her whole face.” LOL!
-
ThatsmyopinionnPlease no guests in season 2I loved episodes 1-9, but the finale discussion was ruined by your guest.

Bmo 838382810193Kaitlin ruins itYou guys usually have a great thing going. The finale episode is basically unlistenable because of Kaitlin. She makes everything about herself and rambles on without actually saying anything. I’m sure she’s nice enough but she’s not cut out for this kind of podcasting.
-
OnedeeperToo CoolLove this podcast! I binge listened to it when there were 8 episodes out and have listened to the episodes twice waiting for episode 9 and 10 lol I’ll miss it.. you guys should do the show Euphoria 😊 Well hope you enjoy the rest of your Summer!
-
MeliMeliBYeehaw Bros Watch CS too!I’ve been a fan since the early PLL days and I was so overjoyed to see y’all were recapping Cruel Summer because I was immediately obsessed with this show too. The recaps have been so great, and the Mallory impression kills me. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on the finale!
-
AmandaPasveerLove it!Love it so far! So excited for episode 10!
-
Sage-a-roniGreat discussionWhat a great discussion of this complicated show. I love how they dive into the characters and analyze their complexity. They’re very sensitive about any discussion of Kate’s grooming & infatuation of her kidnapper. Their analysis of certain details of characters, plot, & cinematography brings depth to my understanding of the show. Also they shared a lot of my thoughts on each episode as they went through. My only wish is that there was a little less discussion of other shows, most of which I haven’t seen so the comparisons are nonsense to me. But considering the quality of the Cruel Summer discussion, I can forgive this little thing.
-
bachelorfan18Amazing podcast!!Found this podcast because I listen to Bros Watch PLL Too and was so excited to hear your thoughts on Cruel Summer!! Can’t wait to hear your finale recap!!
-
KyleighPenaLove you guys!I’m so happy that y’all are back! I have listened to the PLL podcast three times all the way through. I am looking forward to hearing your review on episode 10. I also hope to hear another show podcast soon!
-
MeganMcCurdySo good!!I only wish I would have found this pod sooner!! Great commentary and theories. I’ve been obsessed with the show and have been consuming all things Cruel Summer, and this pod has been some of the best content. Also love the nod to Taylor Swift in the intro/outro music

ZG125Awesome “sequel” to PLL reviews!Love your extremely thorough recaps/commentary and witty banter and humor, I really missed it the past few years! Like with your past podcasts, so much of your insight makes sense and often makes me think of things in ways I didn’t when I initially watched the show. I was so happy to see you guys mentioned in a Cruel Summer Facebook Group I joined, as I had given up looking for podcasts/after shows for this before you started airing. But better late than never! I honestly liked your podcasts on The Perfectionists a lot more than the actual show, which I’m not surprised or too disappointed was cancelled. I mean I kind of want to know some of the biggest secrets/mysteries left at the end, but that’s it. The premise and some of the characters were okay if not good at times, but it was put together pretty bad imo. Anyway, I never realized how old you guys are, I thought I was on the old viewer side but I think you’re like 15 years older than me! I was literally born in early ‘95. Surprising, but no judgement! I probably missed you indirectly mentioning your ages many times in your PLL podcasts too. That does help explain why I’m not familiar with most of your non-PLL references (I did watch Friends only very recently so I appreciated those). Some of your other show/movie tangents can get a bit tedious and boring at times, but not that big a deal and I’d probably like it if I watched those shows. It was a bit hard to get through 5-6 podcasts within a week, but at the same time I’m glad and impressed you managed to pull it off! I can’t wait to listen to episode 9 tomorrow afternoon before the finale!
-
NikkiSue1984Love the Bros!So glad that the bros are back with The Cruel Summer Podcast! They have such great insight and I love listening to them discuss each episode!
-
Ksiev24Can’t wait for more!Been dying to hear your take on episode 9. Thanks for catching up as quickly as you did! Love listening to you guys.
-
Jpetto286The best play by play!Love this pod, it helps me sort through all of my thoughts after each episode, too difficult keeping track of so many theories from the subreddit. Also, I feel exactly the same as you both about Mallory, but I think we have to give kudos to Harley Quinn Smith. She doing a phenomenal job playing a character the audience isn’t supposed to like, and has made us all so invested in her, that we get so angry with the way she acts! It’s very impressive to me
-
NanettebfLove this too muchI found this podcast out of necessity. I had no one to discuss this show with and now I feel like I do! Thanks. Also because demographics were mentioned ep1: I’m a millennial listener
-
Miriam LarsonBest of the bestI have listened to these two since OG PLL days, and I started watching Cruel Summer after listening to their review of episode 1. It is so exciting and fun having another perspective from the show; my friends don’t really watch, so this really just feels like friends talking and it feels great! Thanks guys 💗
-
McrbookbagI love this show almost as much as this podcast!Hey guys. I am a huge fan of the show and am big on podcasts while I’m working or adulting in general. I searched and listened to a few others which were terrible and then found you. It was great but I was super bummed that there was only 1 episode up when the show was already halfway done. I’m so glad you guys have caught up and look forward to hearing your take after every episode I see. I’m looking forward to the last 3 and hope they can wrap things up accordingly. Otherwise I’d be down for another season - if done right. Episode 9 was a doozy and I hate Mallory regardless. Actually shady or not. Episode 10 is just around the corner and I cannot WAIT to see it and hear you guys break it down for us. Keep up the awesome work! One of your biggest fans, Karen (unfortunate name, I know).

Misslc86Great podcastGreat analysis and recaps of Cruel Summer episodes—I love that the opening music is a version of T. Swifts song Cruel Summer too!
-
trumpmebaby1moretimeAn absolute treat!I stumbled across the pod recently and have binged all the episodes! I love hearing their breakdown and jokes, plus their ‘90s insight! I haven’t listened to their PLL podcast yet but am definitely going to have to add it to my rotation :) thank you for your energy!!

CGotlingNewbieThis is my first podcast and totally enjoying you guys. I need to pay closer attention to the shows after listening to this podcast. Thank you!
-
WapatoaAWESOME PODCAST!!!I didn’t know about these guys until just last week but now after listening to the first four podcasts, I can honestly say that James and Marco are perfect for podcasting about this show! Their insights have been very helpful for me in decompressing what I am seeing unfold onscreen with this gripping story. This is the best Cruel Summer podcast in the universe! WOOHOO!! I even love the extra details when they go in the weeds like the grandfather of the actress that plays Jeanette was in the ‘59 movie Beatniks which was later spoofed by MST3K. After hearing that I watched it and laughed hysterically 🎵“Sideburns don’t need your sympathy” 🤣
-
NicoleO121YayyyyThese guys are amazing. If y’all watched PLL and loved it as much as the rest of us this, than this show and podcast are for you. Listening to this podcast is like sitting down and discussing the mind F that these shows produce. All hail the bros, so thrilled to hear y’all again!!
-
Jana_BuenoLove it!These guys never disappoint. So much fun! I am so excited they found a new fun show to talk about!
-
baayjaayThis podcast is the only reason I watchI started watching Cruel Summer and I made it through the first 4 episodes. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. I liked it, but I just wasn’t sure that I cared enough to keep watching. So I stopped watching. Then came the bros... Once they announced their podcast, I quickly got caught up on episodes 5 & 6. I am now, literally, only continuing on with the show, because this podcast exists. I care more about their commentary on the show, than I care about the actual show. That should tell you everything you need to know. Great podcast, gentlemen!
-
MegFromBostonCome for the theories, stay for the laughsThe bros are the best! Still laughing as hard as the day I found them through PLL. If you like to theorize around show, with a dose of film/pop culture history and allusions, hilarious impressions and lots of 90s nostalgia, this is the pod for you!
-
KarFromCleFunny & InsightfulI loved their PLL recaps and they carry on the format and quality with this one. They pick up on the nuances of the show and do such a thorough breakdown of each ep — making Cruel Summer that much more enjoyable.
-
AbethmarkowitzReturn of the Bros!!So excited that these guys are reviewing this new Freeform show!! I listened to their PLL podcast so naturally when I found out they were reviewing a show I was already watching I was all in!! They dig into the nitty gritty of this show and discuss all the questions I have at the end of each episode. I even enjoy their tangents into current TV (Mare of Easttown). Their insights and discussion are captivating and makes me happy to be a part of a new fandom!! Thanks for coming back bros!
-
TrinityHigThese Bros are the BestIf the Bros cover it I will watch it. James and Marco are back and better than ever. It’s every bit as fun as it is detailed.
-
Sandy198128ObsessedLoyal fan of the Bros back to the early PLL days and am loving their take on Cruel Summer!!! (Also really appreciate their thoughtful approach to discussing abuse and violence against women and girls.) So if you like to nerd out over teen thrillers and analyze theories with relentless precision, sprinkled with a healthy dose of 90s nostalgia and classic PLL references, you’re home 😀
-
SasSavvy27Thank you!The Bros never miss! The theories, comedic timing, the detail. Thanks guys for covering this show!

Hannah V ShafferSo excited they’re backI have been listening to these guys’ Bros watch PLL too podcast for years and when this show came out I was really hoping they would do a pod about it too. They have such a unique way of covering a show that helps me notice things I never had before. I can’t wait to hear the next episodes!
-
nicole121519Fantastic as alwaysThe best podcast duo to ever recap a television show is back in action and I couldn’t be happier. The Bros (as I fondly know and call them) quite literally never miss. They are simply on point with every one of their references, their comedic timing, and their analysis of whatever show they are recapping. Their podcasts have given me a deeper appreciation for TV and film, and their inside jokes are absolute gold. 10/10 would recommend.
-
leftfloodsandloudnoisesAnything these two do is greatWas looking forward to these two covering this show as soon as I saw it. So so happy they’re doing this!
