Not just for military folks-highly recommend!!
“From the Green Notebook” is one of the best podcasts out there today. I love listening to it on my commute to and from work, while I’m walking around the neighborhood, or even doing household chores. I love Joe’s humble, easygoing manner when he interviews his guests. These interviews aren’t just fluff pieces, however. Many of them have gold nuggets you can use in your professional and personal life even if you’re not in the military. Lastly, if you’re looking for your next book to read, Joe can help you out there, too. I highly recommend you sign up for his weekly newsletter and monthly reading list recommendations. They are a great complement to the podcast. Both are to the point and contain excellent insights.

    Excellent Podcast for Every Meader
I’ve really enjoyed this podcast over the years. I started for the Army/Military aspect but have enjoyed the topics I’d not have thought of exploring as well. I have a few coworkers I’ve gotten into this and we discuss episodes from time to time.

    Highly recommended
As I am working my way through this podcast from the beginning, I have come to appreciate the breadth of scope and depth of exploration the hosts provide, interviewing a wide array of guests through the lens of leadership and personal development. From musicians and writers to military top brass, the conversations are consistently thought provoking, intelligent, and entertaining. Each episode is well worth the listen. Further, the multiple book recommendations in nearly every episode provide an avenue for additional learning and leadership development. Well done.

    Worth a listen
“How will I know what I think until I see what I say?” Every time I hear this in the show intro, I stop and stare into the distance and wonder what it means! Is is a rearranging of the New Testament verse, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks?” Anyway, I enjoy listening to Joe and his guests and was excited to hear Joe McCormack on his show, who is one of my favorite communication SMEs. Joe and his guests never fail to share something worthy that we can add to our own green notebooks.

    Inspirational!
Joe, I absolutely love this podcast. I never miss an episode and usually wind up adding to my book collection. While this is an essential podcast for leaders at all levels, I would argue that the life lessons in these interviews apply across the board for adults in any profession.

    Benefits for the Military Spouse
Hello, Thank you for this podcast! As a military spouse to an Army Officer, I have listened to my fair share of military lectures, speeches, and PowerPoint presentations. Long story short I was lost in the shuffle of acronyms, couldn't relate and my attention was lost. My husband introduced me to your podcast and with rolling eyes, I listened with him. I thoroughly enjoy every podcast learning more about the military culture, how and why my husband thinks the way he does; but most importantly I am learning about myself. As a military spouse, I truly find your podcast beneficial for me regarding self-growth and becoming a better person and army wife

Every Leader (Military or not) needs to listen
Joe, I’m glad I stumbled upon this podcast, it has helped me become a better Army Officer, Leader, and Follower. I’ve been using some of the chapters as assignments to my staff members to listen and discuss as a group on lessons learned and how to improve the cohesion and effectiveness of our Battalion.

    Mandatory listening for leaders
I have listened to this podcast from its inception and find it to be one of, if not the finest military leadership podcast available. Leadership is something that is in short supply in our nation in many respects, and listening to this podcast and the sage guidance it espouses weekly provides for me an amazing venue for coaching and teaching. As I continue on my journey to be a better leader for those I lead both at home and at work, I know I will continue to pick up valuable insight and tools from the host and his guests. Thanks for doing this Sir, you’re making an impact across DOD and our nation writ large!

    MG Donahue
Chris Donahue is a traitor. He refused to save Americans while in Kabul and then told British SAS they were making him look bad. Hard Pass on the rest of this garbage podcast. I’m guess Mr. ‘LTC’ Alex Vindmann will be a guest next.

FTGN has been a great blog to follow for years, with many thought provoking, encouraging, and inspiring articles. This podcast is excellent for anyone who wants to be a leader. No matter what level of leadership you are, the interviews teach you how to be better. I appreciate how it goes from theory to actual techniques that successful leaders use to connect with their people.
