BeaSmileyJust found this podcastI just found this podcast and I’m loving it! As an art lover I’m enjoying the way Lindsay “tells the tale”. I wasn’t looking for the scientific explanation- the kind that puts you to sleep- I was looking for something that would make me investigate on my own. Very interesting and enjoyable. I like her style.
-
manayunk wallWow...until i actually listened to an episode!Based on the topics of each episode I thought "Bingo!!!" just what I was looking for in a podcast! I downloaded a bunch, ready to spend my day listening but only to realize that these are not presented in a professional way. I think the host is a high school student judging by her EXTREMELY sophomoric interjections. Oh these really bring down the show. It is not "fun" as some other reviewers have stated. They are juvenile, puerile and unnecessary interruptions. Just give me the facts, not peanut gallery commentary!
-
AudiooooooFirst rate!Wonderful series of lively, entertaining, and very informative episodes. Lindsay does a wonderful job, bringing it all to life.
-
JNLunsfordFive stars!Fellow art historian here, this podcast is chef’s kiss perfection! I so enjoy listening to you discuss these topics. (Especially Damien Hirst, what a guy)
-
cjbecj98Excellent ListenI’ve always had a strong interest in art history, but never the time to really study it. This podcast allows me to learn about art history while driving and I love the different topics Lindsay presents. She’s very thorough about each topic and extremely easy and fun to listen to. Her podcast would make excellent lectures for college level art history students. Highly recommended!
-
Forgetful in all thingsNice podcastThank you!You explain pieces of art in a entertaining and informative manner. I love how you describe these visual mediums to us. You are so cool!!
-
JulieaaaafriendNew obsession!Recently found this podcast. I was looking for something new to listen to while painting (I am a fine artist) and I have been binge listing for about a week now. LOVE the many fonts Lindsay speaks in, makes it fun! Keep the good work! Sending appreciation from Milwaukee, WI.
-
ancxz13I Love It!Update in 2025: Lindsey’s enthusiasm about her hometown Green Bay Packers made me, who don’t know much about American football, to look for the team’s information online, read more about their rich history, and is rooting for them now lol. Go Pack Go! This was the first time I listened to a podcast, and so fortunate that I stumbled upon Lindsey’s. Very funny, sassy, and full of knowledge. I love to know more about art history to appreciate them more. I’m also reading some of the books she recommended because of how enthusiastic she talked about them in her podcasts. English is my second language, and I like how clear and slow pace she spoke so I can understand them without too much hassle (also loved her Italian/French pronunciations). Can’t wait to hear more Stuff About Things!
-
matchumooExcellent hostLindsay is one of those hosts that just gets it. She is smart, but not overbearing. She is funny and doesn’t apologize for it (like some really annoying hosts who literally say “just kidding” or “sorry” after every quip). She is relatable and acts like a person instead of a history robot. Lindsay explains things with the perfect amount of detail - enough for us to picture and understand what she’s talking about, but not so far as to make the audience feel stupid. This podcast is a rare gem that doesn’t need to rely on gimmicks or trends to hook the listener. I highly recommend.
-
BeckylynnhNew favorite podcast!I was looking for an art history podcast, and luckily stumbled upon Stuff about Things: An Art History Podcast. This has become a new favorite that’s fun to listen to while also making me feel smarter. It’s also brought new artists and pieces of art into my life, and that just makes me happy. Love this podcast; hope it’s around for a long time, and if you’re looking for a new podcast listen to this one!
-
GrimmeyreaperIm hookedI stumbled upon this podcast after trying to find something I could listen to on my one hour commute to work. This is wonderful! You really do a great job of talking about the most important points of artwork and are teaching me so much about things I’ve never heard of before and things I know about, but never really knew much about. Thank you! I wish you’d come back and do more!
-
MinnValleyFantastic PodcastThis is a wonderful podcast. Well researched, well written and delivered very nicely. I listened to the Lady Jane Gray episode first and am so impressed. It was really well done. Can’t wait to listen to all the episodes!

Russkaya_ChicaOne of my favorite podcasts! If you like art, history, and/or humor, Stuff about Things is right up your alley. I really enjoyed learning more about The Execution of Lady Jane Grey….such a striking painting of such a tragic story. Lindsay always brings the smarts in an accessible and entertaining way!
-
꧁꧂PF ꧁꧂Honestly One of the BestI’ve been listening for about a year and not many podcasts keep my attention. I don’t write reviews + I’m not the target audience for this but the host makes the show worth listening not only from her good personality but the fact that you know this took a special kind of passion to create. Rare gem of a show.
-
Another CarpenterFavorite Art PodcastI’ve been listening to this podcast for 3 years now!! My only complaint is that the shows don’t come out as frequently as I’d like. This is by far my favorite art related podcast! Educational, silly, and recorded well.
-
Tara1376Best podcastThis is my absolute favorite podcast!! I am an artist and a researcher but not an art researcher so I love how Lindsay brings the two worlds together. I have been captivated by every topic, many of them I’ve never even heard of before. And of course, I have to mention how well researched every episode is.
-
AlidaMontyFuture art teacher here!I am currently a fourth grade teacher, whose dream has always been to become an art teacher! I decided to finally take the leap this year and take the test required to become one, and wouldn’t you know it, a number of the questions on the test I knew specifically from this show! So not only do I love the down to earth, manageable way you present art history for entertainment, it also directly impacted my life dreams!
-

BirdandCloudGirlThe Seven-layer Cake of PodcastsIn a word, the podcast Stuff About Things is… REMARKABLE. Yes, it is educational, engaging, fascinating, well-researched, and interesting. But that is just a start! Bottom line: it tickles the heck out of me! Lindsay, the host, is a brilliant storyteller. Each episode is like a seven-layer art history cake: it has layers and layers of deep-dive, researched history, with gobs of witty, fun, personality-filled entertainment-frosting. It is a DELIGHT! Can’t wait for each episode.
-

Joeym406Awesome!!!My wife introduced this podcast to me during a road trip to visit our daughter at college. I instantly appreciated Lindsay’s approach to the subjects she covers. While educational it is extremely funny and entertaining. I also appreciate the fact that she doesn’t just churn out content but cares enough about research and structuring episodes. Even editorializing or fact checking herself after completing the episode. Look forward to more episodes!!
-
RaChen8485Best Art History Podcast EverThis podcast is entertaining and educational. I really appreciate how Well researched the topics are. I appreciate the brief discussion of sources and have read one or two of the suggested books to learn more. I also appreciate explanation of topics that might seem like “common knowledge”. For example her brief descriptions of Buddhism and Christianity. Thank you Lindsay for all your work. I hope to listen to new episodes soon. Also looking forward to another Gus Corner!
-
jmjamessilvermanTalking about art is an art…And Lindsay has mastered it! Witty and charming, Stuff about Things brings the art history classroom to the real world. -
SiniklGreat storytelling with wide variety of topics!I usually don’t like podcasts where it’s just one person monologuing at you for an hour, but Lindsey makes it so interesting! She puts great work into her research and tells the stories of the “stuff” so well. I’ve learned so much about a diverse array of ~arts~ and can’t wait to keep listening!
-

-
dreyfus2000Relatable Approach to Art HistoryAs a high school art teacher, I am always looking for resources that are engaging and fun. I started listening to this podcast to freshen up my memory for AP Art History, but honestly listen to it more just for myself. The narrator is relatable and funny and each episode is packed full of fun information about the topic. So, thank you for making this and putting it out into the world! Also, My AP Art History class made paintings using chiaroscuro techniques, while listening to your Caravaggio episode! Very fun! Thank you.
-
NlwareFun and InformativeThis is a wonderful, unpretentious art history podcast. Lindsay has great story telling abilities and selects incredibly interesting topics. I’m thoroughly enjoying her work.

B.J. De IdahoGreat unpretentious art history podcast!I learned about this podcast from a student who loves art history and VanGogh! I teach art and it’s very helpful to learn lots of great things about a variety of art, mediums etc. Thanks so much Lindsay!
-
kristakline10/10I enjoy art. I enjoy history. This podcast has both! I love how it focuses on a different artist, work, or topic each episode, and how Lindsay makes all of the info both interesting and easy to digest! She is not the pretentious art snob that you sometimes find other art history podcasts. 10/10 would recommend.
-
VirarevFavorite Art History PodcastThis is my favorite podcast for art history. I tried a different podcast before this but was thrown off by how the other podcast felt a bit dismissive to people who don’t know about art. (As someone with some light background in Art History I couldn’t imagine introducing art to my friends or strangers as such.) Here, Lindsay, is very obvious about wanting to share her love for the art form in the various medias it takes. Its clear that her academic background plays not only a helpful aspect in gathering interesting information about her topics but gives her a sense of the atmosphere in the art world past and present that she utilizes to give us a taste of how certain pieces can be regarded in public and academic spenders. I genuinely enjoy her enthusiasm for the subject. Lindsay’s choice to embrace art in all its forms, natural or man made, architecture and painted, a etc invites the listener to consider how art shapes not only the visual paintings we see in a museum but society and therefore history.
-
Other Art History FiendMy favorite podcastThis is my favorite podcast on any streaming service. I’ve laughed out loud every episode and learned so much. It’s not only charming, but rigorously researched and the storytelling keeps you interested the entire 90 minutes (or 30 or 75 or however long). Lindsay really has a gift. I’m a huge art history nerd and still learned a million more facts each time I tuned in. It’s inspiring to hear someone this passionate continue to produce content like this. Keep them coming!
-
YussssssssssddssVery well done! Also go Pack go :)
