FruityTuty0796Thank you so much!!!I failed at learning Russian with Duolingo and I was really needing to be able to translate at school. When I thought it was my fault I couldn’t learn a new language they told me it was because I wasn’t doing it right and I could have basilica conversations in Russian.

Taylor thinks…Perfect for busy people! As a foreign language teacher and as a learner of other languages, this podcast is low-maintenance but highly effective in teaching the language. The lessons are constantly recycling learned concepts and vocabulary for long term memory. The narrator encourages the listener to think critically to pick up on the grammatical patterns versus relying solely on teaching the grammar explicitly. This is a great way to start or improve!

Taylorrr2022AmazingI didn’t even know how to say yes or no in Russian when I started and this got me hooked. It is now 8 months later after doing the Russian Accelerator course after this, and this started it all. I cannot recommend this enough!

A Listener 2487Grateful for this PodcastI’ve been picking up Russian vocabulary and phrases for years from native speakers. I can even read Cyrillic. The last time I gave up trying to be conversational was when I was advised to memorize the cases to get a sense of how and why everything seems to be conjugated in Russian. I’ve gotten so much more momentum and understanding from 16 episodes of this podcast than I did from months of case memorization (which was a complete waste of time). Couldn’t be more grateful for this podcast.

RussianLearnerSLGood, but sexistMark really is a very clear language teacher using good teaching principles. I’m a language teacher myself. This is the best podcast to learn Russian that I’ve found so far. The practice sections are especially well done, with pauses for listeners to practice. (It does lean heavily on translation, but that can’t really be helped due to the format.) My one feedback for Mark is that the course is so obviously catering to (straight) men. Many of the examples are about wives and girlfriends, or make an assumption about your gender and then never propose the female counterpart. It would not be that hard to switch the scenario to a boyfriend or husband every other time. There’s one lesson where Mark even asks the language learner to “roll your eyes,” and say “girls!” or something like that in complaint about a woman wanting to dance in a hypothetical dialogue. Obviously that dialogue makes no sense for female students. And one very ugly instance of lamenting about Russian women being in a better place today and becoming more “picky” about dating foreign men. Ew. While some may dismiss this as a frivolous complaint, as a language teacher I personally place a high value on the perspective of my students, and based on my experience teaching language, conceivably 50% or more of the listening audience could be female. Why exclude more than half your audience? Furthermore, because gender is so important in Russian grammar, all the practice saying things that men would say with fewer instances of the female counterpart actually disadvantages female students compared to male students in learning through this course. I’m on lesson 27 and I know how to talk about beautiful girls and my girlfriend and use male cases very well, but still wouldn’t be able to talk about a boyfriend or feel comfortable with the female case. (There does seem to be plenty of practice re: female past tense verbs though.) Obviously these podcasts are already made and Mark isn’t going to remake them, but I hope in his other courses he reconsiders this issue.

NalaBird12Love Russian Made EasyI love the RME podcasts. I wish they had this see up for all languages I want to learn. I’m on episode 13 and I’m already able to order food and make small talk. I actually went to a restaurant where they have staff who speak Russian and I ordered my dinner in Russian! I was also at the mall in my town and struck up a conversation with a couple I heard speaking Russian. They said my pronunciation and accent was great! I am taking to the podcasts very well because I literally sit down for 2 hours a day after work and work on them. You don’t have work on them for 2 hours to get a good lesson out of them I just really love learning the language. I was in the fence about the accelerator course but I know for sure I will be signing up once I am truly confident in every podcast in RME!

tigerprincess81Truly made easyI have done a ton of different languages course and podcast. My issue with them is it doesn’t seem to stick. With “Russian made easy” I am retaining the words I learn and I can remember them the next day. I love it

BekayaelExcellent podcast!I love Mark’s teaching style. I didn’t know any Russian before his podcast and I felt more comfortable traveling around Russia after listening to this podcast. I would also highly recommend his app learning how to read Cyrillic. This was ESSENTIAL to traveling around Russia.
