bradynconrsmomThe English Literature Teacher’s Dream PodI have been an English Lit. professor for over 20 years, and I’ve been a big ole book nerd all of my life, and the whole time I read ASOIAF, I could only imagine how immersive the world could be as a canonical course for lit majors. George has filled the text with such rich lore, it deserves deep study … and then I found David Lightbringer on YT! It’s like he already wrote the entire textbook; now all we need to do is offer the course.
-
Silverwing Flyeryou tube?Long, long time listener here David puts out great content. I wish he would continue putting out podcasts. I don't need to watch him or download video size files.
-
Brautigan25Need more podcastsThe only bad part is that as David does more and more YT content, the podcast seems to be more and more neglected.
-
Mc907My new favorite ASOIAF content creatorI am obsessed with everything about his podcast and YT channel! You can tell DL is extremely passionate about the novels and the symbolism contained in them. This is the perfect podcast for ASOIAF nerds like myself. I’m currently doing a re read of the novels and this I a great companion to it!
-
iggy coskyFantastic content!David Lightbringer is extremely passionate about this project and it makes for some captivating content. I discovered him on YouTube first (his videos are well produced with great images/artwork sequenced to what he is talking about) He is well informed and has a charm that I find genuine and compelling. Also, he likes thelonious monk and parliament funkadelic - that sealed the deal for me. 💜💜🙌

JonSnowwwwwwI love your show. You should do a Dark (Netflix) episode or two.

Miss SusiThis is so amazing.Unique Song of Ice Fire podcast. I love the mythology which is missing in all the GoT review and chapter rereads. Love this. I’m glad that I found this in 10/2021. I’m living the story in a new way. Thank you. This is spectacular.

AirehcazGreat ListenLmL does a very good job identifying and analyzing symbolism found in ASOIAF! He makes many interesting theories based on that symbolism, and present it all in an entertaining way. Some of his theories are a little out-there, but most make perfect sense I think. They’re all fun though, give it a listen!
-
EZJeanneNot for the faint of heart.LML isn’t for the casual reader. This analysis of ASOIAF is a deep dive into symbology, mythology and respect for truly great literature. LML provides great access to the multi-dimensional/layered story Martin is telling, and he always ties it back to the story of the characters; to the human heart in conflict with itself. All that and a wonderful, sometimes self-deprecating, sense of humor too.
-
JustAnotherLokiVariantBaelish early death theoryWe all know that Harrenhal has always been an unlucky seat since Aegon the Conqueror torched it with Balerion’s dragon fire. In the Fire and Blood book we discovered that anyone who held Harrenhal met an unfortunate end during the reign of Maegor I. There was House Towers, House Butterwell. It was said to be cursed. So when Petyr Baelish has House Baelish of Harrenhal could that have been a sign that he too would meet his demise as well? Even if it was at Winterfell at the hands of Arya and Sansa Stark?

Blowfish and the HootiesIf you like fantastic references and ASoIaF..Then this is the podcast for you. The depth of which he covers the symbolism throughout the series alone is amazing, but the dude is just so gd funny and smart that it makes it depressing when the episode is over.... but only until you go through the rest of the episodes and listen to another! Smoke down 4:20 east coast time.
-
UbermeuberLML is a God-SendWell, I suppose he’s more of a Lucifer-Send according to his name, anyways if you love The “A Song of Ice & Fire” Series & are intrigued by the depth of its histories & mysteries, his symbolism-focused Podcast is a must-listen. LML’s work stands out like a dragon’s treasure hoard amongst piles of dragon dung.
-
kelllllyyyyydkSuperLML is easily in the top tier of ASOIAF podcasters. Most importantly, he’s got thoughtful, unique analyses, but he’s also pretty entertaining. I highly recommend checking him out on YouTube too for A+ visuals

PurpleFaerie15Weird music over talkingJan. 7 episode has some weird loud music over the discussion in a couple of points towards the end. Why was this added????

JohnM-EI like itI dig this guy and his material. Also, I love how he has launched a one-man war on the mad queening of TV Danaerys.

AnnieGray93Incredible Scholarship & AnalysisThis show is absolutely impressive. I can’t overstate how cool LML’s work is here. The reading of the texts, supplementary texts, meta-texts, subtexts, contexts... it’s all fascinating. I highly recommend listening/reading!
-
LyrillaLucifer Means LightbringerBest podcasts ever for The Song Of Ice And Fire! Interesting, complex and fun!
-
Blue KrakenLMLLML is the best at explainig the many layrs of symbology and mythological reference woven throughout the text of GRR Martin's A Song of Ice & Fire. His natural charisma and enthusiam for this subject is infectous to those interested is understanding the rich history of this amazing world George has built for us. I can not more highly reccomend going thru every podcast...maybe even a few times. It's that good!!!
-
A +40 sword of lighteningAmazing contentYou know that picture showing an iceberg; where you see how deep it goes? That is the essence of the ASOIAF series. It is so layered and faceted, it develops more with each reread. This podcast the ocean supporting the iceberg.
-
gangreen424Great Symbolic Analysis of ASOIAFA great podcast for anyone looking for in-depth symbolic analysis of George R R Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. LmL does a great job presenting and explain his in-depth analyses and theories, of which there are many. A good understanding of the books series is helpful, but not necessary. LmL includes plenty of quotes to provide context and examples, and the production value is top-notch. This podcast is a definite must for any ASOIAF fan.
-
Grey GriffOnly downsideOutside of Q and As you should avoid skipping episodes and starting out of order. It is wild and awesome ride but you are going to get more starting from the beginning. Any chance Dawn is hiding in Lyanna’s tomb? What if that makes dark stars journey fit George’s model of any plan to accomplish something goes differently.
-
lord of green ravensA fantastic deep diveThis is a fantastic series that will make you read the asoiaf books in a new way, nearly forcing one to re-read them. This gives me a deeper appreciation for the work of George R.R. Martin, world myth, and history.

-
LordAssRamLML Delivers World Shattering ASOIF insightsLML offers an exhaustively thorough interpretation of ASOIF through the kaleidoscopic symbolism of an ancient in-universe apocalyptic astronomical event. Although his basic hypothesis may seem a bit far fetched, LML makes his case through heavy citations to the text and occasionally offers fascinating predictions based upon his detailed formula. Seasoned with pop culture references from the 70s to the 90s, LML’s podcast is very well produced. A five star podcast for ASOIF nerds.
-
JMB 1975Life-altering and colossally greatAs I write these words, this podcast has been rated by 67 people, and 66 of them gave it 5 stars. Every single comment has been hugely positive, and yet even so, I don't think they convey the magnitude of LmL's achievement. This is not just a podcast but scholarship, and it's better than most of the professional scholarship I read for a living. If you truly want to understand ASOIF, then this is indispensable. Some other people have certainly done valuable analyses, but I've never seen anything remotely like this. If GRRM doesn't finish the books, then I nominate LmL to do so because no one understands them better.
-
Dkmirishman27Dense in the best senseI love how LML goes down the rabbit hole of symbolism and ties in traditional folk lore to the ASOIAF series. Perfect if you want a deep dive into the dense writing of GRRM. Cheers!
-
Unhappy cuz audio doesnt workListen and re-read ASOIAF to have your mind blown.I have been rereading the series for the first time after finding podcasts like Radio Westeros and this one. I am so glad to have found this podcast prior to getting too far through my reread. The more I listen, the more I read, the more I feel like I missed upon my first read. Now I finally see the layers upon layers of GRRM’s “fractal” style of weaving the story and creating the characters. Whether it be the deeper meanings of the names, the symbolism of the battles (dances) or ever-shifting relationships of the characters, LML helps me unlock mysteries I didn’t even know existed in the text. He gives examples of the symbols, but the fun part is finding many more myself as I read! Thank you, LML for this amazing podcast.
-
Zachary VickersExcellence!!!!!!!!!LmL opens up ASOIAF to a whole different level that beforehand would've seemed unimaginable. The textual evidence combined with the real world lore he presents in my opinion is the most compelling aspect of the series. LmL is the man and I'm proud to be a pattern! I want to see him go on the Joe Rogan Experience!
-
Ser Frozie PopOriginal InsightAlthough the podcast readily credits other community members for certain insights, the analysis presented here represents some of the most cogent, original thoughts on how to interpret the Song of Ice and Fire I have read in my four years as a fan of the series. I remain impressed by the research and production value that goes into each highly entertaining episode. Thanks for your contribution, LML!
-
criticssuckLML 5*Well produced, researched, presented all around informative and entertaining. Must listen for ASOIF fans.
-
BlackieGG:DI love your podcast! I also watch your collaborations on YouTube
-
zorexI love this seriesI found the written essays online which blew my mind. Later, trying to re-find them, I luckily found the podcast and have been thrilled ever since. The host/author's wry humor and easy-to-follow organization and breakdown of the information/evidence presented make this such a great, fun, engrossing podcast to listen to. Do yourself a favor and listen to this series! It'll totally change the way you look at the books and their mythology and, as is my case, make you appreciate the writing so much more. Be warned, though... Much like my experience with the ASOIAF audiobooks, even a momentary distraction can cause you to miss something crucial, so listening when driving or folding laundry is the best!
-
WednesdayWolfFantasticalThe show that finally got me to sit down and read the books.
-
BobbieMDMind-blowing!A must-listen for any die-hard ASOIAF fan.
-
ThElectricbanjoOn pointThe content here confirms, and methodically backs up, that the detail that passed over my head (at 30,000 feet) during my first read, is purposeful meaningful story telling. The world building isn't just filler, but actively informs current events and highlights the major players in their roles. What the podcast really does is take away any justification of impatience for the next books to come out. It must be exhausting moving the plot forward while continuously and symbolically tying every plot line back into a collective mythology, that in essence is trying to explain a historical account of people overcoming a world disaster.
-
nkp81Unbelievable ScholarshipThe research that LML has put into this podcast and the symbolism he's uncovered is absolutely spectacular. Great job!
-
Nikki M from IllinoisAwesome! This podcast just blows my mind! Topics are so different from what anyone else is doing. I love how in-depth each topic goes and how they really make me look at ASOIAF/GOT in a way I never would have on my own. LML and his wife both have great voices and the pacing is perfect! I highly recommend this podcast for anyone who wants to go deep into the mythology/history of ASOIAF!
-
berrygirl79One of the BEST!LML's fascinating examinations of ASOIAF through the lens of mythical astronomy are some of my favorites!
-
Silas BarbarossaGod I love this podcastJust know that you, like Jon Snow, probably know nothing. Luckily LmL is here to set you straight.
-
SparktheRedbearAbsolutely Awesome! This podcast is absolutely awesome! LML does a great job of giving so much background and info on ASOIAF and the myths behind it! Thoroughly impressed on how much time and research he has devoted to this! Heard about this after listening to History of Westeros, and have just powered through these episodes after hearing LML on the Asshai by the Shadow episode from History of Westeros! Keep up the awesome work!
-
SilverShadezAbsolutely Amazing!A great addition to ASoIaF podcast line up. Lucifer means Lightbringer does an extremly thorough job of researching the novels. I can't imagine how much time he puts into each episode. He clearly loves the books and it shows. The audio quality is great from the first episode on. The folks he has working with him to narrate passages are also very good. Even though the episodes are very long (I see this as a plus) they are broken into easily digestable chunks, with each section logically flowing into the next. This podcast will change the way you think about the books. It's a unique and riviting perspective. Mythical Astronomy of Ice and Fire is on par with the Radio Westeros, History of Westeros and War and Politics of Ice and Fire podcasts while still managing to be its own unique experience!
-
Gusta535ASOIAF Fan Must-ListenFor fans of ASOIAF and even mythology, this podcast is a Must-Listen. Detailed, In-Depth analysis that will please all fans of ASOIAF and bring in new fans.
