Steph.efffMiss the old formatReally wish you’d go back to the long form investigative/storytelling format. Random interviews with random people aren’t what I came to the dream for.
-
keykeykey16.amongst the most moving storytelling/subject matter I’ve heard in a while p.s. I love your humour
-
ThatLittleWitchGreat show!I’m so glad The Dream is back, Jane Marie is fantastic :)
-
OiseaublueRecommendI think this is an excellent podcast, Jane is funny and wise. Her guests are sharing important life experiences, many cautionary tales told in entertaining ways. Lots of honesty, I recommend this podcast.
-
halmagggBabies Not Having BabiesThis episode is one of the most powerful stories I have ever listened to. I came into this episode pro-choice and have been rocked by Charlotte’s story. I can’t understand exactly what’s happened or why at the moment but I feel so profoundly touched and changed by her.
-
erinoutriderYour advertising is susI actually really like this podcast but advertising for a gambling website, which is a huge scam, while calling out companies that are huge scams is messed up.
-
Sentient penguinIt’s great to have you back!I’ve had family members and friends involved in MLMs and am still trying to understand why. Your podcast helps me to do that and maybe be a bit more empathetic.

Disappointed in Dallas.Episode 4 sillyThe unabashed flirting, giggling and cackling laughter by the host is ridiculous. Very unprofessional “interview” and presentation. I’m embarrassed for her.
-
Mynicknameistaken335 stars!I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve listened to every episode of The Dream podcast, including the episodes shared on the pod that aren’t actual “The Dream” episodes and derive an immense amount of value from it and, yet, have never given a review. So here are my 5 stars for this beautiful, intelligent, wry podcast that somehow makes me want to be a better person, if that makes sense? And upon learning that this is going to be a weekly pod? Well, I’m here for it. Thank you to Jane and the whole team. You’re doing a fantastic job and look forward to this next chapter of the podcast. 🩵

Doubles starseason 3 was a bummeragree that Jane jumped the shark on this season. Hope she gets back to the same quality she delivered in season 1. And, please let the ex boyfriend go for good.
-
simplymichellereneeClever and candidI am loving Jane’s candor and humor along with extensive research and great guests. I am enthralled! Especially after my grandmother sold Avon forever (I never thought of them as an MLM, and I loved the mini-lipsticks!), and my ex-father-in-law is pulled into MLMs constantly. So sad and these organizations infuriate me. Thank you for bringing light to this f-ing horrible excuse for “business opportunities” that take advantage of people just trying to do better.

Jenn187Jane is excellent as host.I was pulled in immediately. Jane is engaging and presents the topic in an extremely informative and engaging way. I am fascinated and hooked. So well researched and the production value is top notch. There are so many podcasts available to listeners, but this one stands out and is worth investing your time into. So educational and relevant. Love it!
-
Originale1Dumb show- just a personal indulgenceThis had great potential but a few episodes in and it’s some boring personal conversations with the podcasted and an ex partner? And a coach who sounds flakey. Waste of time
-
KellyB4321First season is great but then …5 stars to the first season. I found the 2nd and 3rd season unlistenable after trying. I don’t know why things went off the rails after. Poorly edited, rambling, unfocused.
-
Gracielyn05HookedI do appreciate this podcast! It came at the right time! I have been questioning the whole coaching thing, MLM businesses that I’m constantly bombarded with on fb and instagram and then finally organized religion/cults! Would love you to dive in the latter some more. Thank you for being authentic and a skeptic.
-
OnesassytartFascinatingListening to the live cast of the call between Jessie Lee and her assistant after the call finished convinced me that these MLM “coaches” are just your run of the mill high school bullies. Woof.
-
DiniBoBiniSeason 3 is a Dumpster FireS1 & 2 are well done and compelling. Season 3 starts strong but quickly loses steam. It lacks cohesion and seems to be taking the listener on a journey to nowhere. It feels like the host is taking this season to be self-indulgent. I hope she gets it out of her system and returns to business as usual in S4. When you make yourself the story instead of finding a meaningful story to tell, I think that’s jumping the shark as far as podcasts go.

Sai025First season was great…I really enjoyed the first season of this podcast and was confused as to why a previous reviewer said the host was annoying. I thought I had figured it out as I listened to the second season, which had short moments where the host would start crying, but overall was still bearable, albeit cringey. However, by the third season, the host was pretty much trauma dumping on the listeners and crying in what felt like every episode. Instead of an interesting podcast with a focus on an interesting topic, it felt like I was forced to listen to someone’s couples’ therapy. I had to drop the third season a few episodes in, which is a shame because I’m interested in the topic.
-
PatStongeAmazing but lots of tangentsReally well done podcast, one of the first ones I recommend to people. I'm not sure why season 2 and 3 start to include really off-topic tangents into the host's personal life. Its important to talk about and I feel for her, but it really doesn't relate to the subject material, especially season 3.
-
esveeseaAffirmedI got cancelled on TikTok for saying coaches who sell courses on how to sell courses are MLMs huns therefore pyramid schemers . Thank you for this.
-
MforMarsWhat an annoying host. A real KarenThe subject matter’s interesting. But Holy Cow is the host annoying as crap.
-
skiellyLove this showI use it in the professional ethics course I teach
-
smashydoroThe bestJane you’ve done it again and despite everything I am certain that through all of this your eyebrows have looked incredible. You’re an inspiration 🙏

ellehumourGood start, devolves badly in season 2Like many reviews I really enjoyed season one — I found Jane’s approach empathetic but still well-rounded and thorough, a good introduction to the world of MLMs and what makes them such appealing, effective, and ultimately devastating scams. Season two really falls off. In the episode “whatever happened to happy Jane?” we get some insight as to why, but the confessional, deeply personal tone and sudden shift from a journalistic endeavour to treating us to clips of Jane having really private, intimate fights with her boyfriend, talking about recent losses in her family, and straight up crying about how depressed she’s been, just makes me feel uncomfortable and honestly kind of manipulated as a listener. Maybe that’s harsh but it really gives me the ick. If the focus of the podcast needs to change, or it ends up taking a different shape than it did, that’s one thing. But I didn’t tune in for one woman’s personal trauma journaling. I tuned in for coverage of large-scale scams that target vulnerable people. That’s a serious topic, and season 2’s research and investigation has been notably less thorough and nuanced than season 1’s — more broad, less of a clear narrative focus/structure — even before it turns into Jane’s Very Personal Diary. A pretty dramatic and kind of sad falling-off to a podcast that had a lot of promise, I hope to see better work from this team in the future.

therealkatiemomoSend this to your MLM friends!Seriously, I am so grateful that I have something I can reply to the “hey girl!” MLM DMs. Absolutely the best podcast I’ve ever listened to - and I listened to a lot of podcasts! Great research, exquisite editing, fascinating and heartbreaking all at the same time. A must-listen!!
-
ChrPreSuch a great podcast!I have listened to and loved both seasons of The Dream. Wel researched and very informative … thank you for blowing the whistle on industries that are making a ton of money preying on our hopes and naïveté. I am currently listening to season 1 a second time! 😊

LyndaMPBest podcastI’m a podcast junkie, I don’t have unlimited time, but I am listening to this whole series a 2nd time because it is my favourite. It’s interesting, informative, well-produced (essential!) and it comes at the topic from many angles. The infiltration and stories of the ordinary people who suffer, that’s what sets this apart. I’m particularly interested in predatory practices, and real stories of real people, (well-produced, not unscripted talking) that is what makes it powerful. It took me some time to find this again, years after my 1st listen. In the meantime I’ve watched/listened to every MLM doc I could find; this holds up as the BEST. More like this PLEASE!

L.T.R.ExcellentFascinating podcast! Highly recommend.
-
GraceMae!my favourite podcast!i have probably listened to around 100 podcasts, and by far this is my favourite. the episodes are engaging with fun monologues and a diverse cast of characters who i enjoy listening to their opinions and experiences! the host is respectful and open minded to trying new things and topics are handled with grace and respect! very well done!

YYC RunnerFantastic, Careful ReportingI just finished bingeing season 2. The series was so well researched, with credible and informed guest experts. I enjoyed each thought provoking episode. Excellent work!

Al11134Listen to Season 1 skip Season 2Season 1 felt like journalism it was really good and had purpose and a clear direction. When the host brought in family and friends it was still related to MLM’s. Season 2 is the random musings of Jane and her plight against wellness, with no direction and in need of a lot of editing. Episode 5 is when I gave up, it was an important topic that was just trying to pack information in and never got to the point. Just awful, I feel like season 2 was rushed and it shows.
-
elisegofascinatingthis is a really interesting in-depth look at the whole culture and social and economic structure around MLM. extremely well done!

Wowmkistaken10/10 would recommend season oneI loved season one. I deeply dislike MLMs & spend a lot of time in the anti MLM community. I think season one was important & informative. But season 2. I need more information about the vitamin and supplement industry!? What about medicinal mushrooms!? What about herbs that aren’t so much “vitamins” but medicinal plants & holistic medicine? What about the money the Govt makes off “big pharma” does that affect whether or not doctors, researchers, scientists, whoever, say these vitamins, herbs, mushrooms or supplements actually work!? What about how racism has affected plant medicine knowledge being passed down. Or racist anti foraging laws that stopped POC from gathering plants etc. whether they used them for medicinal reasons or not. How is someone taking iron for anemia different than someone taking turmeric for inflammation. Are there any herbs/supplements that do help? So much information was missed to get the full story. I need to know more! Please 😬 Lastly, a season on the diet & weight-loss industry would be great. Since it’s another big scam. :)

Kristen E MLovely PodI found this through Sounds Like A Cult’s MLM episode. If you want the history and a deep dive on MLMs check out this pod, the gals said. I’m like, yes please. Great information, lovely host and guests, and the production value is top notch. Thoroughly entertaining and educational and put together so well. Love it!
-
sgw555Fantastic - wish there was another season!Loved this podcast and have been hoping for a new season, even if it explores a different type of scam. I don’t know why a couple of other reviews said the host was insufferable- I found her very engaging.
-
Travellin59Fascinating!So well researched and presented. Kudos for not bowing to the condescending Joe, Jane!
-
SoooglesMust listen to!!Love Jane’s reporting!! I cried with her when she spoke about her brain injury. Her perspective is relatable and her pessimism is balanced just so with her optimism. Also I love Dan and their back and forth. Waiting for season 3!!
-
Trish_Dishes85Awful Host - Great contentThe host is insufferable - she maintains this judgey sanctimonious tone throughout the entire podcast, but if you can get passed that, the content is awesome. Well paced, well edited, and I tore through season 1 very quickly before moving to season 2.
-
kashjdExcellent podcastGreat information and well delivered! Would absolutely recommend if these topics are of interest to you
-
eastvillgalLoved it!Impeccable reporting. The host Has that perfect combo of intelligence, wit, and personality. Thank you!
-
jenndainLove the dreamLoved season one!! Season two left me feeling like there could be more open mindedness on Jane’s part. 😀 Try the be nice to your rice experiment Jane . From a former skeptic
-
veganalways7Boo to Season 2Season 1 was a great, investigative and informative. Season 2 was an embarrassing mishmash of ‘stuff’. What’s with the episode about having a kid? Also, why not take a break from podcast recording if you’re in the hospital from some illness likely brought on by your fast food addiction? Note that veganism has nothing to do with ‘wellness’. Do your research.
-
QuquwoeorptpSeason 2I am a believer of most things she laughs at and god bless her BF for having to defend himself constantly. She shouldn’t be so hard and angry about things she knows nothing about. Doesn’t make for an interesting or educational listening experience. And still, there is some interesting interviews worth a listen.
-
TrettybaIt's too bad about the judgy host..But in episode 2 it becomes obvious that the host has extreme trauma, and should probably spend more time in a counselling office than at the microphone. She's hard on herself so she's hard on other people.
-
onthefence13Very biased reporting, but they know itOverall, this is a great show! I think you just need to go into it knowing that the main voice, Jane Marie, is incredibly biased, and has no hesitation in mocking or belittling those with views differing to her own. This is not a bad thing, it’s just helpful to think of this as a super informative opinion piece, that shares a lot of truths and scary realities about people and products that we as a society put a lot of trust in. This is true for both seasons 1 and 2. Season 2 you can definitely tell Jane Marie is quite passionately against any form of holistic medicine, but again, she acknowledges it multiple times and does do a bit of mind opening as the show goes on. One thing I might say, for Jane Marie, is I am deeply sorry for the horrific event that you experienced as a young girl, and I’m really grateful that you shared it. I’m sorry that it plagues you still. If it helps, I think there are very few people in the world who do remember the names of their kindergarten teachers, or have many memories at all of kindergarten...I myself have maaaaaybe four incredibly brief memories of that time, but could not tell you names, pick faces out of a crowd, or even tell you many stories from grades 1 and 2....so I wouldn’t worry too much about that particular recollection. I hope that helps 😊 Please do make a season 3! You’re reporting some incredible stuff that needs to be shared, extreme biases or no, these are realities!!!!!

StefMckeeA big eye opener!I had signed up not that long ago to a MLM, I struggled big time to get anyone to sign up with me or even buy product and my “coach” literally never talked to me after a few months of no sales! They messaged me constantly at the beginning and let me take part in team calls but then after months of not selling or signing someone on I got totally axed. At the time I was looking to make some friends and start this “business” but all I got out of it was debt 👎🏼 Listening to this podcast was a huge eye opener because I felt like there must be something wrong with me if other people are making sales and Im not. There really is no way of succeeding the way some of the higher tiers make it out that you can! Anywho great podcast and was a big eye opener!!

allmyfavnicknamesweretakenGreat podcastSomething I wanted to learn in detail for a while - thank you! Both seasons are great. Looking forward to hearing more from The Dream
